“Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes Of Grindelwald” is a sequel that takes place directly after the concluding events of “Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them.” Once again starring Eddie Redmayne as Newt Scamander, the sorcerer is hot on the trail of Grindelwald (Johnny Depp), a powerful dark wizard intent upon spreading his ruthless wrath over non-magical humans. He attempts to accomplish this terrible plot with the help of witches and ardent followers of the dark arts. Once again Scamander seeks the help and council of Albus Dumbledore (Jude Law), a wise and powerful harbinger of magic, who has a past relationship with Grindelwald, whom has recently escaped custody. Accompanied by friends Tina (Katherine Waterston) and Jacob (Dan Fogler), they embark upon a path of lurking evil that is sure to test their loyalty until the end. Directed by David Yates, it is his sixth foray into the wizarding world created by author J.K. Rowling, that eventually leads to the birth of Harry Potter. “Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes Of Grindelwald” is a special effects bonanza that relies on the anti-hero Scamander to save the day, despite the fact that a large part of the magic community is weary of his amazing abilities.
