“Ralph Breaks The Internet” is the animated sequel to the 2012 original “Wreck-It Ralph.” Phil Johnston, co-writer of both entries, directs the family film along with Rich Moore, of “Zootopia” and “Futurama” fame. “Ralph Breaks The Internet” launches 6 years from its predecessor’s events, with the characters from the games in Litwak’s Family Fun Center still conversing when the arcade closes each night. The adventure begins when the steering wheel from the game Sugar Rush breaks, which forces the owner Mr. Litwak (Ed O’Neill), to unplug the console. Wreck-It Ralph, voiced by John C. Reilly, is able to rescue all of the Sugar Rush characters from certain demise before the power is cut. With the help of Vanellope von Schweetz (Sarah Silverman), Ralph goes on a quest for a new wheel using the internet, where the arcade has just received a connection. Through a series of mishaps, Ralph and Vanellope wind up playing Slaughter Race, a violent game where they encounter Shank (Gal Gadot). When Shank and Vanellope develop a special bond, Ralph worries his friendship with Vanellope may be left behind, but not before they are determined to acquire a new steering wheel for Sugar Rush.
