Combining two names synonymous with outrageous comedy, funnyman Kevin Hart joins Tiffany Haddish (Girl Trip) in “Night School.” Hart plays Teddy Walker, an underachiever in high school who thought his problems were solved years later when he began dating his wealthy girlfriend Lisa (Megalyn Echikunwoke). However, through a series of mishaps Teddy has a propensity for starting, his life falls apart and leaves him jobless. Due to being unable to focus as a teenager, Teddy never received his diploma, putting his current employment status in peril. Reminded that getting a GED can solve his immediate problems, Teddy re-enrolls at his former school. Little does he realize that accomplishing his goal will not be the breeze he had predicted, as his teacher Carrie (Haddish) challenges him at every turn with unusual and forceful behavior. Because Teddy has already promised his girlfriend that he has a high-paying job out of fear she will leave him, the pressure is on for him to pass with flying colors. “Night School” is directed by Malcolm D. Lee, who previously helmed “Scary Movie 5” and “Roll Bounce.” With witty characters and rapid-fire quips, “Night School” is a romp beginning to end, and proves it’s never too late to go back.
